![]() Exhibit Review: Ron MueckI recently had the opportunity to see the Ron Mueck exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. All I can say is run don't walk to see the work of this very talented former puppeteer who sculpts. Mueck deals with issues of birth, life and death as do most artists but in a most unconventional way — creating fiberglass versions of individuals who we catch in the act of living. Yes I said individuals because in viewing them, you expect them to open their eyes or speak to you as they follow you around the room. My favorites: 1) the newborn baby girl, so new you could see she had just been wiped clean and is still wrinkled and red from her recent delivery. At any moment I expected her to open her eyes and start screaming hungrily for her first feeding. 2) the 8 foot man sitting in the corner wondering why he was sitting in this museum with no clothes on and all of us watching him; 3) the man's head laying asleep, with lips slightly open. You can almost feel the breath going in and out as he sleeps. But at any moment he might open his eyes to catch us staring at him. ![]() If you aren't in the New York metropolitan area, then you have no choice but to enjoy it online and/or wait for it to visit your area.
